These are large works that take considerable time to create and can be permanently set into a fixed space or movable art works. Most of these are made with a technique called puzzle cutting. Some are created with small handmade tiles. I set the tiles onto a structure I built out of lumber and a special kind of cement-covered tile board.

The tiles I made for this piece depict animals from a medieval bestiary. I took impressions from a box that I found in my parents’ home; I believe they bought it in Italy. The figurine in the archway is a Sagittarius archer. SOLD
